Modules and layout
Which parts of Kept appear, where that is decided, and what a switched-off part leaves behind.
Today, Capture, Notes, Tasks, and Calendar are the core of Kept and always present. Habits and Body are optional places you add, and the way habits appear is yours to shape.
Habits and Body in the menu
A new account's menu lists Today, Notes, Tasks, and Calendar. Habits and Body are not there until they mean something to you:
- Habits is there whenever you have a habit that is not archived, including one you made during setup or one an assistant made for you.
- Body is there whenever you track something: a meal, a workout, a lift, a weight, sleep, or a connected Apple Health.
That holds for every account, new or not. Updating Kept keeps Habits for anyone with a habit and Body for anyone who tracks, and tucks away only the rows an account was not using. Choosing Body & Health as a focus during setup does not add Body by itself: nothing tracked yet means nothing to show there. A part of Kept that is switched off does not take its row away either; the row opens a page that turns it back on in one tap.
To add either one sooner, or to tuck one away, open Settings → Menu on iPhone and switch Habits or Body. On Mac, Settings → Sidebar has the Body switch (the Mac sidebar has no Habits row; habits live on Today). Your choice belongs to your account, so it follows you between iPhone and Mac, and it wins over what Kept would pick. Switching a row on also turns that part of Kept on if it was off. Tucking a row away keeps everything you logged, and widgets, Siri, search, and links still open it. Switching Habits or Track health off in App Layout tucks its row away too, and switching it on brings the row back.
There are no greyed-out rows. A place is in the menu or it is not.
Body
Body is chosen during setup, where the reveal asks whether you want to Track health. Choose yes and Kept turns on meals, sleep, and training; Body joins the menu when you track something or add it in Settings → Menu. Choose no and Capture drops its Meal kind, and the Log meal and Snap a meal controls explain themselves rather than opening an empty room.
Your meals and workouts are never deleted by that choice. A later build adds a Body module switch to Settings under Health & wellness; in this build it is switched on account by account.
Habits
Settings → Habits on Today shows or hides your habit rows on the Today screen. Off, the Habits page still keeps everything, the Habits widget still works, and Siri still checks habits off. Only Today gets quieter.
If you used habits on Today before 1.4 moved them to the day view, the first time you reach for a habit while Habits is off, Kept shows Habits moved off Today once, to say where they went. A newer account never sees it; reaching for a habit there opens the Habits page, which offers Turn on Habits.
Sidebar rows on MacMac
Settings → Sidebar can tuck the Calendar row away on this Mac, and its Body switch adds or tucks Body for your account. The rows stay in a fixed order: Today, Calendar, Goals, Tasks, Notes, then Body when you track something or add it. If Body is switched off for an account that tracks, its row stays and offers Turn on Track health. ⌘1 through ⌘6 follow the Go menu: Today, Calendar, Notes, Goals, Tasks, Body.
Today layout on MacMac
View → Today Layout sets Top 3, Quick wins, Habits, and Schedule to Compact or Expanded and hides the optional ones. These choices live on this Mac for your account and reset when you sign out.
Task properties
Settings → Task properties on iPhone, or the Show menu in the Mac inspector, chooses which details a task displays: Priority, Due, Area, Goal, Estimate, Reminder, Not today, Labels, and Created. Device-local.
